A straight answer first

This isn't for everyone - and we say so in Module 1

Most courses start with hype. Ours starts with an honest assessment. Selling privately takes 40–80 hours over 6–12 weeks, direct negotiation with strangers, and a calm head. Some properties and situations genuinely suit an agent - complex properties, distressed sales, four-week deadlines - and the course tells you that before you spend a single weekend on it.

If the scorecard says you're a good fit, you'll go in with realistic expectations and every tool you need. That honesty is why our sellers finish.

You're a strong fit if you can:

  • Give it 5–10 hours a week while listed
  • Talk money with strangers without folding
  • Treat your home as a business decision
  • Take feedback on presentation and price
No catch - here's the model

Why is a complete course free?

Selling a home involves services you'll need anyway - conveyancing, photography, a portal listing service. Where we recommend providers we trust, we may earn a referral fee. You never pay more by using them, nothing in the course requires you to, and the course is complete either way. Your saving stays yours.

FAQ

Questions sellers ask first

Is it legal to sell my own home in Australia?

Yes - in every state and territory. You do not need a real estate licence to sell a property you own, and you are not legally required to engage a conveyancer or solicitor - DIY conveyancing kits are available. In practice most private sellers still use one: settlement is now electronic in most states, and only accredited subscribers (solicitors, conveyancers and banks) can transact in that system. Module 2 covers what applies in your state.

How much will I actually save?

On a median-priced Australian home (around $870,000) at a typical 2.25% commission, roughly $19,500. Budget $2,000–$4,000 for the things you’ll pay for yourself - portal listing ($699–$948), photography ($300–$500), and a conveyancer ($800–$1,500). Module 1 includes a worksheet for your true net saving.

How much time does it take?

Less than most people expect. It varies with your property and how hands-on you want to be, and the work comes in short, manageable bursts - preparing the property, hosting inspections, and replying to buyers. Plenty of sellers fit it comfortably around a full-time job. Module 1 walks through what is realistically involved so you can judge what suits you.

Can I list on realestate.com.au and Domain without an agent?

Not directly - the major portals only accept listings from licensed accounts. Private sellers use a listing service that publishes your property under its licence while you keep control and handle enquiries. Module 6 walks through the options and costs.

Why is the course free?

Selling a home involves services you’ll genuinely need - conveyancing, photography, a portal listing service. Where we recommend providers, we may earn a referral fee. You never pay more by using them and in a lot of cases will save costs with referral codes that we provide. The course is complete either way.

Which states does it cover?

All Australian states and territories. The selling process is largely national; where rules differ (contracts, disclosure, cooling-off), the course gives state-specific guidance and checklists for NSW, VIC, QLD, WA, SA, TAS, ACT and NT.
